John’s Profile
John Cochrane , the Pincipal of Cochrane Livestock , was born on stud jersey farm at Kin Kin to be a fifth generation dairy farmer.
Prior to entering the Dairying Industry , at the age of 27 , John was a Butcher having owned and operated two of Gympie’s largest and well known meat outlets . Over the years and several farms later John grew his dairy cattle numbers to 1169 cows producing 21600 litres per day (presently running 3 studs, Holstein, Brown Swiss & Jerseys ) his Holstein Friesian stud ( Kevindale ) was registered in 1981.
John has bred and owned in excess of 20 excellent cows he has been a member of the Judging Panel – Holstein Friesian Association since 1988 , he has shown cows at country and royal shows every year since 1982 .
John was elected to the Suncoast Milk Board in October 1986 and , is presently chairman of Premium Milk (the supplier group supplying Parmalat ), he has been twice Chairman of the Holstein Friesian Association of QLD , Federal Council Member of Holstein Friesian Association of AUS for several years ,and , has 9 years as a Board Member of the QLD Dairy Farmers Organisation.
Cochrane Livestock commenced business in 2009 and has since conducted well over 100 dairy & general clearing sales in QLD , from Warwick to Malanda , John’s philosophy is quite simple – “Presentation and Marketing – this will maintain and enhance cow values”.
